Therapy

“One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”

— Carl Gustav Jung, 1945

Therapy isn't always a comfortable experience. Actually, it is usually uncomfortable to sit with, trust, and be vulnerable with another person.

It is the therapist's job to create a safe, secure, and confidential environment for someone so that they can be as comfortable as possible while going through counselling or psychotherapy. A sense of safety and trust comes, in a big part, from the relationship that can be built between the two people engaged in therapy.

It is so important to know that when one is in therapy, the utmost care should be given to the therapeutic space and the therapeutic relationship to make sure these qualities of safety, trust, confidentiality, and security are present.

A build-up of various stressful and anxious thoughts and emotions can leave anyone's head feeling more cloudy and cluttered than calm and clear. Many small anxieties could transform into an overwhelming storm if they are left unchecked.

Processing these overpowering emotions and thoughts by talking with someone like a family member, a friend, a psychotherapist, or anyone with an empathetic ear can encourage mental clarity.

If you are seeking someone to talk to, and to be heard by with empathy and care, then feel free to reach out to Reddy Psychotherapy.

Self-reflection is an essential part of personal growth and can be used in a therapeutic setting to meet and embrace one's shadow.

The shadow is the hidden part of the human psyche that represents all aspects of the self that are rejected. When the shadow continues to be rejected it can appear as an enemy, however, when it is embraced, it can take the form of a friend.

Psychotherapy can help allow someone to know and understand their shadow, and therefore, themselves.

Therapy can be used for many different purposes. Some approaches to therapy are very action-focused while others are more reflective and process-focused. No matter why someone is interested in therapy, it is, foundationally, a commitment to an individual on a regular basis.

Anyone who can commit to one hour a week of focusing on themselves where they can be heard and held in a therapeutic setting may find themselves discovering a new aspect of their Self or a new perspective on their lived experience.

Therapy may be able to uncover a window into the soul of an individual participating in therapy.
